Whether you've lost your spouse or gone through a bitter divorce, starting a new romance at a mature age can seem like an impossible challenge. So what's the secret to finding love later in life? Psychologist Judith Sills and Dennie Hughes, author of "Dateworthy," were invited to appear on “Today” to offer tips for getting back on the dating track. Here’s their advice:

Judith Sills, Ph.D.:
People are living longer, and having more than one mate in life isn't uncommon. First, you need to recognize what might have been invisible to you during your marriage: Flirting, dating and romance for the over-40 group is everywhere. You just didn't see it. Over 40 is the fastest growing group of singles on Internet dating services. It's in the movies, it's at your church. Bottom line? Being single doesn't have the stigma it once did. You're in good company.

Sure, it's tough to meet new people. A lot of us have anxiety about appearing in front of a stranger wearing only a smile! Don't worry that you don't look like you did at 20. It's all step by step. Take a good internal look at yourself. It's not about "being too fat, too old, too tired." You have to change your attitude. Life is about reinvention. No one person can fix your life. No one person can make you happy. You have to do it yourself and the rest will follow.

The key is to reawaken that playful spirit of courtship. You can't go into dating looking for "the one." Don't worry about whether he's "worth it." Waste a little time, have a good laugh. The simple act of getting out there allows you to relearn dating, flirting and meeting. Dating is a practice field to help you break the ice and feel more comfortable presenting yourself socially. Life is about trying new things!

There are two big issues most older single people must face: The fear of being alone and the fear of making a mistake. Finding love late in life is about being comfortable with yourself. If you fear being alone, you are liable to make a premature commitment. Enjoy testing the field. Try dating a number of people. On the flip side, the fear of making a mistake can mean you make snap judgments. Give people a chance. Sure, if you're getting a bad vibe you shouldn't stick with it, but don't rule someone out simply because of their height! As you get older, it's OK to know what you want, but make sure what you want isn't being dictated by a past relationship. You have to let someone new into your life, and they may have gifts that are different than your ex's.

So what should you keep in mind while on a date? Prepare a social resume. It'll get better with practice, but you should have some topics thought out that you feel comfortable with — your love of golf, your passion for art, whatever. Second, hide your pain. You may have reason to feel bitter, angry or lost. Confide those feelings to your friends, not your date. Sure, you may get to know each other and, down the line, share that stuff. Just don't do it while you're still getting to know one another. Dating is supposed to be fun after all! Third, find a reason to connect. Ask your date about their interests. Try to learn something from the person. And last, this is a conversation, not an interrogation. Don't worry about finding out everything right away. A little mystery can be attractive.

Dating later in life can be a lot of fun. There's no biological clock. You don't need to confine yourself to the things that may have seemed important earlier (race, religion, age, etc). You have more "me" time now. Making romantic connections around shared interests is great. You can learn to canoe or garden or take an architectural tour of India. You're also less worried about what everyone else thinks. If you have a good time, broaden your social world and try to be happy, love will likely find you.

Fix it up. Ok, it seems superficial, but go ahead, allow someone to fix you up. Get a new haircut. Try a new outfit. Lose a couple pounds. He doesn't mind if you don't look 25. Confidence is the biggest seduction.

Make a rule you both must go on one date a week and then make sure you stick to it. Better yet, get a group of gals together. Have a party, invite your friends, and tell them the only thing they need to bring is a list: Three things they love about your personality, two things that irritate you about the type of men you choose, and one thought about what kind of guy you should go out with. You'll gain invaluable insight, some much needed self-esteem and the perfect profile to post.

The most important thing is to have a good time. Go to multiple events, try different outlets. Men understand that dating is a numbers game. Women have to embrace this more. The more people you date, the bigger the field to choose from.

Falling Out of Love

Okay so we all know falling in love is a wonderful thing. So how exactly do you fall out of love? How is it that everything that seemed so special, so wonderful, so perfect, turned into a freaking train wreck? In a split second life has gone from living in bliss to calling in damage control.

Where there certainly may not be a tried and true method, for sure keeping mementos be they pictures, clothing, phone numbers, emails, voice mails, all of the aforementioned relationship paraphernalia is a definite way to keep you held back in the past. All of these items piece by piece need to be dumped. Better yet, you need to burn what you can burn, but do it safely. I was informed by a friend when going through a breakup how necessary it is to have a funeral for a relationship. Yes a funeral. Her instructions were to gather the goods, put them in a container of sort, burn them and then bury the ashes. And no she is not a witch. In fact she said to say a prayer over this act and ask God to watch over the person and send the ex loved one to his or her highest possible good. After that take it a day at a time but move on.

The only way to heal is to go through the pain. That is the only way to get to the other side. It may hurt, sting, burn and make you have extremely evil thoughts and urges, but the fact is the only way to get to the other side is to go through it. After this process, you will find yourself with a new state of mind, heart and tolerance level. Sometimes an encounter with the pains of a relationship gone bad, can be a life changing experience. And let me just say I have a whole new respect for tears. Crying is one of the most freeing and cleansing experiences in this world. I know guys you are saying, "Men don't cry." Yes they do. But, I won't tell if you don't.

The strange thing about pains of the heart is that an individual seems to grow and see more clearly for the next encounter. Yes I know, at some point and time we all say, "there won't be another." Sure there will. Why deprive yourself as a human? This next time around however just like the beacon on a jet, your beacon will be lit, sensitive and ready as will be your radar. You will not compromise your well being and your heart because your radar will be attuned to your new thought process. Your senses will be more keen and astute and you will be less likely to make a decision that is not thought out. Of course before moving forward you will reflect back on the last encounter gone bad, and that's fine. Note I said reflect, not relive. The reliving thing is self torture, so throw that act the deuce and move on.

As much as we would like it to be, love, like relationships is not a simple thing. Just by the nature of the dynamics, it is complicated. Is there a way to prevent the hurt and pain of falling out of love? I don't know of one. If you know a way, bottle it, copyright it and market it. I guarantee you will be the next Bill Gates. My experience is all you can do is be a soldier, take your bullets and deal with it. But once that's done you come out kick ass strong and ready to deal with a whole new world, whole new game.

What I learned from my experience is that when you are torn down to your lowest point, I am talking being able to sit on the curb and swing your feet, this is when you are met with your greatest challenges. You find out exactly what you are made of. And I know for a fact that "God doesn't make junk." This is an opportunity to reach self-empowerment beyond all realms. But you have to pay attention, wake up, and move the trash out of your head, so that you are receptive to the new incoming thoughts and signals. People, we block our own good by allowing trash in our minds. We have to learn to control our thought process because what we think about is eventually what we bring into our lives. Now stroll down memory lane in your life and tell me if this is true.

Easier said than done. Been there done that. I think those are definitely good ways to start the subconscious to moving forward, but do I have to burn the shirt with his scent in it that I loved to sleep in so much? Not only yes, but burn it quickly. Burn it. Burn it! Burn it! Burn it! Is there an easy way to move on? If you know of one please share with the rest of us. The fact is even when you hate someone, if in your heart you loved him or her, you know it is still hard to let go. The love hate relationship is the hardest to get over but it can be done with time.

So what is the magic answer? Time. That's it, time and commitment to move on, to begin a new life, to do new things and meet new people. Make a commitment to yourself to not look back and go back to that same situation. Don't give this person anymore of yourself than you already have. You deserve better. More importantly realize that only time heals. Use this time to become the best person that you can be. The person can't be replaced, the love felt in that relationship can't be duplicated. Recognize your energies were specific to your relationship. So that being said, the chances of jumping into a new relationship that will honestly work are nil. That is not a fix to the problem. Unfortunately you have to suck it up and take the pain, go through it and create a new balance in your world. This way when you do meet the one worthy of you, you are rid of your trash and toxins.

Easter marks new beginnings... the new beginnings of spring, life, and your relationship. Here are several unique ways to add romance to your Easter.

Chocolate Egg Surprises
For this idea you buy a hollow chocolate egg and insert your own toy, gift, or message. I would get one of the larger ones and cut it in half very carefully so that the whole egg doesn’t break. Placing the egg in a paper towel will prevent chocolate melting all over your hands. Then you add your little toy, gift, or message inside. To seal the egg back together: take melted chocolate and paste it on the two broken pieces and then put the egg in the freezer so that it will stick together. Once chilled, wrap it up and what a wonderful surprise!

Easter Egg Hunt
Stay up later than your sweetie the night before Easter. Have them hunt around for plastic eggs filled with love notes, candy, etc. When they are down to the last few, give them a hint to one they might have forgotten. (Hide this one really well!) Have the last one decorated extra special and have the ring, or some other special token, inside! This would make for a perfect proposal.

Lily of the Valley or Carnations
Buy or pick some lily of the valley or carnation flowers, which are white and put the stems of them in food-colored water. The veins turn the color of the water. Perhaps using his/her favorite color would be a nice idea. It shows that you love them and took the time to make them. They will change color overnight. Many men will say it is the first time someone bought them flowers.

Romantic Easter Basket
Cut out 50 to 100 egg shapes from lace doilies, construction paper, or fabric. On each cutout, record something about her/him that you love. Be specific, "The way you smell when you come to bed at night," "The way you take care of me when I'm sick," "Your recipe for pancakes"... And fill a basket with them and have your sweetheart pull a new one out everyday. This is kind of romance that softens everyone’s heart.

Why you fall in love?

In some relationships, arguments always seem one sided - with one partner making all the noise as the other quietly calms the storm. It's possible they both have a problem expressing their feelings, but together they're able to reassure each other that emotions are being managed. Different couples will experience it in different ways, but that inexplicable feeling of wholeness you have when you're together is what Henry Dicks, a guru in relationship psychotherapy, called the 'unconscious fit'.

Unconscious fit
All of us carry with us a psychological blueprint, holding details about our life experiences and the marks they've left. It contains information we often haven't acknowledged about our fears and anxieties and our coping mechanisms and defences.
Each of us has an unconscious capacity to scan another person's blueprint. The people we're most attracted to are those who have a blueprint that complements our own. We're looking for similarities of experience but, more significantly, we're also looking for differences.

Opposites attract
The purpose of this unconscious fit is to find someone who can complement our experiences. That might be someone who's the same as us, but most commonly we're looking for someone from whom we can learn; someone who has developed coping mechanisms that are different from our own.
The ideal partner will be someone who has struggled with similar life issues, but has developed another way of managing it. It seems that our other half is often our best chance of becoming psychologically whole.
Although no two relationships are ever the same, psychologists have noticed that there are some common types of unconscious fit. Do you recognize any of these?

Parent and child - this type of couple often has shared issues with dependency and trust. One partner copes with those issues by behaving in a childlike way. Their hidden belief is that if they remain insecure, dependent and needy their partner will look after them. Their partner takes on the role of parent and by doing so is able to deny their own needs for dependency as they're acted out by the other.

Master and slave - this couple has a problem with authority and control. One partner may feel very insecure if they're ever subordinate, so they're bossy and take charge of every household circumstance. Their partner, who fears responsibility, dutifully toes the line while smugly comparing what they describe as their laid-back attitude to their partner's control-freak attitude.

Distancer and pursuer - both partners are afraid of intimacy but have found their perfect match. The unspoken agreement is that one of them will keep chasing and nagging the other one for more intimacy while the other runs away. Occasionally the chase will swap round.

Idol and worshipper - when one partner insists on putting the other on a pedestal, this often indicates an issue with competition. To avoid any form of comparison, both partners unconsciously agree to play this game.

There are two other common types of fit based on finding a partner who has a similar problem and a similar way of coping.

Babes in the wood - you may have seen this couple around. They look alike and often wear matching sweaters. They share the same interests and, more importantly, they dislike the same things. They keep anything bad out of their perfect relationship by joining forces against the big, bad world outside.

Cat and dog - on the surface these partners look as though they should never have even met. They argue incessantly over anything. They both avoid intimacy by living in a war zone.
You may see elements of your relationship in all of these types. As we progress through our relationships, it's not uncommon to slip into a certain pattern of behavior. For example, in a time of illness and vulnerability you may act out the parent and child model, while many couples become like babes in the wood following the birth of a child.

Declare your Love!!

How to declare your love in order to get a positive answer? Well first of all you have to be sure that you have the reciprocity. If you don’t have no guarantees of that you’d better ask yourself if you are ready to get refused. And if you are not try do get a little bit closer to your object, to learn more about him or her in order to understand what he or she feels.

If you can’t stay silent no more and want to declare your feelings whatever the reaction may follow still try to make in a way that will be the most acceptable for you both and won’t only push your object away.

Demonstrative personalities like loud and bright love declarations probably in public. It can be a heap of red roses, or huge inscription on the wall, serenades under the balcony. You may fall on your knees and read a love poem in a loud voice, you can glue your printed love declaration all around, you may appeal to people around telling her (or maybe him) about your feeling. If your object is really one of those people who like to demonstrate their relationships and feelings in public she/he will be impressed by your bravery, imagination and the strength of your feeling (although it’s said that only that one who doesn’t feel anything can speak about the love in the beautiful words). And if you don’t have the reciprocity yet such a declaration can be one step forward to it.

But in an object of your love is shy, modest or just reserved and doesn’t like to attract an extra-attention to his/her person this kind of a declaration won’t do and you may get a negative answer even if your object has some kind of a sympathy to you. Words of love said in privacy or whispered in the ear don’t loose any bit of their meaning and probably even gain some.

However you would declare your love be sincere, don’t try to impress or to take your object by surprise, don’t be too pushy, don’t ask for a definite answer at the same moment. Just let the one know that you differentiate him or her from the other people that he/she means something special and serious for you.

Love declarations usually come naturally when two people are seeing each other for some time already and are quiet sure about the feelings of each other. Nobody gets prepared to declare his/her love to a partner. it usually comes all of a sudden, by some impulse or just by the way. And when couple has a long-lasting relationships everyday small signs of attention, care and support will say more than all love poems in the world, though such romantic love declarations are very nice either.

By the way if you are shy or can’t find the words to say about your love you can always do by any means of communication which are plenty today, though only after oral love declaration you can observe the very first reaction and expect the most sincere answer.

If you hear “no” in the answer to the declaration of your feeling don’t loose your hope all at once (exception is when your object starts laughing in your face). You may ask him/her to stay friends, to meet sometimes for a coffee and a chat. Don’t complain, whine or get glued, be pleasant and try to keep some contact. Most people can’t stay completely indifferent to a person who has distinguished them from all other. The one who’s listened to your declaration can starts looking at you more attentively because you are the one who sees in him ore her some features of which the others probably have no idea. Who knows maybe later on this interest may turn to sympathy or something more or otherwise you may study your object of love better, see its real face beyond your fantasies and start feeling a little less in love.

One more question about love declarations – who is supposed to do it first. Traditionally its men who declare their feelings first and its women who sigh out in answer a languid “yes”. Nowadays both men and women are free to speak about their love and feelings first. Of cause the traditions aren’t totally overcome in people’s mind. Women often are too shy or too proud to do it firsts. Men usually don’t know how to behave in the answer and what to do; they may even get scared and push the woman away. And women are less prepared to hear “no” and can get deeply hurt by it. Just is you feel you’re unable to conceal your feelings no longer – declare them but mind that your object doesn’t get responsible for you after it.

Do You Feel Loved?

Lots of couples complain they don't feel loved by their partner. Yet when asked what would make them feel loved, people are often unsure. Relationship psychotherapist Paula Hall offers advice on communication that will help you identify the needs of both of you.

Sometimes the way someone shows love is not what makes their partner feel loved. For example, one person may show love by looking after their partner's practical needs, when what the partner longs for is a hug and tender words.

This exercise should help you and your partner think about the things you need to feel loved.

Preparation

You'll need two sheets of paper, a pen and about 30 minutes undisturbed time.

You'll get most from this exercise if you and your partner do it separately and then share what you've learnt.

If your partner's not keen, it's still worth doing, as it can help you feel more confident about asking for what you need.

What to do

First take a sheet of paper and write: "As a child, I felt loved when..."
Next, write down as many things as you can think of. Your list may include things a parent or carer said. You might remember physical affection, time spent with you, presents bought. Or perhaps it was someone cooking your favorite food or doing your paper round for you.

On a second sheet of paper write: "I feel loved when..." and write down all the things you can think of that your current or previous partner(s) have done that make you feel loved.

Have a look at the list and think about which things you prefer. Next time you find you're not feeling loved, remember what you've written and ask your partner to show their love in a way that's more meaningful to you.

Tip: If you're struggling to think of things for your lists, try reminiscing with some old photos, or remember how you were cared for when you were unwell.

Love Traingle - its characteristics!!

Of late I have been hearing too many stories of triangle love. It is a very common spice for our favorite fictions but it happens in real lives in a big way and therefore finds a great reflection in films, operas, soaps too. So today I sought to research a bit on the internet. This is what my research revealed.

A love triangle refers to a romantic relationship involving three people. While it can refer to two people independently romantically linked with a third, it usually implies that each of the three people has some kind of relationship to the other two. The relationships can be friendships, romantic, familial (often siblings), or even pre-existing hatred between rivals. Addition of bisexual or homosexual characters adds many possible combinations of sexes, and of romantic and sexual interactions.

The term "love triangle" almost always implies that the arrangement is unsuitable to one or more of the people involved. A similar arrangement that is agreed upon by all parties is sometimes called polyamory, although polyamory usually implies sexual relations. Within the context of monogamy, love triangles are inherently unstable. Unrequited love and jealousy are common themes in love triangles. Though rare, love triangles have been known to lead to murder or suicide committed by the rejected lover in real life.

Love triangles are an extremely popular theme in entertainment, especially romantic fiction, including opera, romance novels, soap operas, romantic comedies, Japanese comics and popular music.

Characteristics of love triangles

In television shows, a love triangle is often prolonged for a lengthy amount of time, delaying any final declarations of love between the main character and his or her suitors that may prematurely end this dynamic or displease fans. Similarly, romance films must also sustain this set-up until near the film's end, although they tend to establish a more clear-cut conclusion to the romantic entanglements than in long-running TV shows.

A common love triangle is one in which the hero or heroine is torn between two suitors of radically contrasting personalities; one of a girl next door or nice guy type, and the other as a physically attractive but potentially dangerous person. Alternatively, the hero or heroine has a choice between a seemingly perfect lover and an imperfect but endearing person. In this case, the "too-good-to-be-true" person is often revealed to have a significant flaw, such as hidden insensitivity or lecherousness, causing the other person to become the more desirable partner.
Love triangles can either be relatively balanced, in which the two candidates each have a fair chance of ending up with the protagonist, or they can be lopsided, in which the hero or heroine has an obvious romantic interest in one of the candidates, and considers the other candidate as "just a friend," but withholds a confession of love to avoid hurting his or her feelings.

A less permanent love triangle can also occur when a former lover of the main character makes an unexpected appearance to win back his or her heart, provoking feelings of jealousy from the main character's steady partner. However, this situation is usually not considered an actual love triangle since there is little possibility of the main character breaking up with his or her longtime partner to pursue a just-introduced character, and it is often used as only a test of the true depth of the main character's devotion to his or her partner.

Usually, a love triangle will end with the hero or heroine confiding his or her feelings in the suitor he or she feels is the most virtuous or have the most interest in him or her, and the chosen one reciprocating his or her love. The other suitor usually will step aside to allow the couple to be happy, or come to terms with his or her feelings, often claiming that he or she could not love the main character as much as his or her rival does. Sometimes he or she will be written out of the love equation entirely by falling in love with someone else, or being killed off or otherwise eliminated. While love triangles can be accused of being cliché, if done well, they can provide insight into the complexity of love and what is best to pursue in a romantic relationship.
A love triangle should not be confused with a ménage à trois, a three-way relationship in which all members are romantically involved with each other instead of being in conflict over one person.

The Art of writing a love letter

Maybe your heart is beating wildly or maybe it is broken. Either way, you wish you could say what you feel, but every time you try, you come up short. Welcome to the complicated world of love! Take comfort in knowing that poets and statesmen have struggled with the same question--"How do I write the perfect love letter?" Here are some simple guidelines that can help.

1. Presentation. Use beautiful stationery (a neutral, soft color, such as cream or white) and a flair pen with black or brown ink--no blues, greens or reds! Remember, your Love Letter is being written to someone special. Hand-written letters are best. This is personal--you are not writing a business letter!
2. Ambience. Go to a secluded place and put on soft, romantic music. A quiet room would be nice. Dim the lights. Stimulate a romantic mood.
3. Keepsake. Date your Love Letter (month, day, year). This is a letter that will be treasured and remembered. You can bet that it will be read over and over and safeguarded in a special place.
4. Greeting. Choose an endearing salutation. Don't be formal. Use you love's first name. For example: "My dearest Jennifer . . ." or "My darling Matt . . ."
5. Beginning. Start your Love Letter by telling your beloved your reasons for writing. For instance: "I have lain awake many sleepless nights trying to compose words that might adequately describe the feelings of my heart. But every time I have made the attempt, I have failed miserably. Please forgive my poor effort and accept a trite and simple phrase: I love you. I think I can say it no better than that . . . ." Never insult your beloved's feelings or belittle yourself by saying something like: "I know you probably don't feel this way," or "You must think I'm crazy." If you are timid in your Love Letter, your attempt at conveying heartfelt words will fall flat and might be misunderstood.
6. Body. The body of the Love Letter should include reasons for why you fell in love. Here are some ideas:
• recall when you fell in love with him/her
• explain how your life has changed for the better
• describe how much you miss your love when you're apart
• explain that you can't imagine life without him/her
• list some of the many things you have in common
• tell how wonderful and complete he/she makes you feel
• recall some special moments you've shared together
• mention times you've picked him/her out of a crowd
• list qualities that set him/her apart from everyone else
Avoid being casual, too light-hearted, or openly erotic. A Love Letter is a letter of respect that coveys deep, difficult-to-express feelings. Don't discount the impact of poetry in place of, or in addition to, your words. Maybe your beloved has a favorite author or poet. It will be seen as a compliment if you take the time to quote someone he/she admires. Be sure to give proper credit where it's due. Don't forget the Internet is a great place to find that poem or song you are trying to quote!
Be real. Your Love Letter should be a carefully crafted work of art, but it also needs to sound sincere. You want your Love Letter to make your beloved fall in love, not fall into laughter. Be confident as you express your emotions, dreams, and vulnerability.
NOTE: don't expect your first attempt will be the letter you send. Practice on scrap paper before you start writing on your good stationery. REVISE, then leave it for a few hours, then return and revise it again. Read it again in the morning before you send it. You'll improve it, as well as have fewer regrets--guaranteed!
7. Closing. End your Love Letter with carefully worded prose: "There, I have said it. I can rest now. And as I dream, I will dream of you." Make your closing upbeat and positive.
8. Valediction. Don't just end with: "Love, Eric." Even if you said, "All my love," it would be better. You become even more romantic by writing something like: "Dream of me, my love . . . ." What you want is a simple, yet heartfelt goodbye: "With undying love," or "Forever yours." Remember, you may think this is too sappy, but your loved one will treasure each word. Be prepared to have it quoted to you in years to come.
9. Insert. Include a special extra: petals from a flower, sprinkles of stars, a teabag of your favorite tea . . . . You get the idea. That little extra effort means you really put some thought (and heart) into this.
10. Neatness counts. Gently fold the Love Letter and place it in a neatly addressed envelope--hopefully, one that matches your stationery. The correct way is to fold a small stationery sheet (or sheets) in half with the text on the inside. Place the letter in the envelope with the crease at the bottom and the salutation facing the back. Hand address the envelope. Remember what your elementary teacher taught you about penmanship--make sure your love is able to read your writing! Add a stamp that looks romantic--the Garden Bouquet stamps are nice--and affix it upside down. It is a custom that means, "I love you." Drop the letter in the mail. That's it! Expect an emotional response. And here's another tip: buy some breath mints--you'll need them!
11. Be expressive. Here’s a yummuylicious German Chocolate Caramel Brownie recipe…you can just try it out and pamper your loved one with this today. This is a recipe from Mom Kneser.
Greg's Tip: when you add in the chocolate chips and caramel into the middle you can also add bacon. Bacon adds a very subtle flavor and a little crispiness. I recommend using bacon that you have cooked fully - highly crispy bacon. Remember: Bacon makes everything better.

Ingredients:

• 14 oz. light caramels (approx. 34)
• 1/3 c. evap. milk
• combine in sauce pan, low heat, melt, set aside
Next:
• 1 pkg German choc. cake mix
• 3/4 c. butter, melted
• 1/3 c. evap milk
• 1 c. chopped walnuts
• mix by hand, it should be thick, press 1/2 batter into 9x13 greased pan; bake 350 degrees, 6 to 7 minutes.
• 1 c. semi sweet choc chips
• sprinkle over semi cooked batter
• drizzle melted caramel over top of the current cake/chocolate chips
• flatten tablespoons of remaining 1/2 batter in hands and place over top

Bake 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Do not overbake. (Lick your
finger & hit the bottom of the pan in the center. If it sizzles, it's
done. OR look at the edges of the pan. The batter should be just starting to
pull away from the sides.)
Cut into SMALL pieces, 4 doz or more.

Tips:

1. The caramels are sometimes hard to find because all stores locate them differently. Sometimes they're across from the vegies, sometimes near the bakery, sometimes near other bulk products. If you don't locate them, ask where the bulk Brach's candy is.

2. My original recipe listed step 2 as the first thing to do, but I learned that if you don't start the caramels melting, they might not be ready to drizzle when the first layer is baked.

A study in Italy indicates that people who have recently fallen in love have some of the symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). That would explain why you are so obsessed with the love of your life that you have to call him/her on an hourly basis, SMS love texts relentlessly and spend every waking hour (and some sleeping ones too) dreaming about the person!

The study comes to this conclusion as one symptom of OCD appears to be unusually low levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which has been associated with anxiety and depression. Students who participated in the study and claimed to have fallen in love recently were found to have serotonin levels 40 per cent lower than their peers. No wonder than that people in this love struck phase swoon at the very mention of their beloved's name!

Follow those, and love can be as long-lasting as you'd want it to be," she says, and adds, "Things like sufficient space, no ego hassles, basic compatibility, not being too judgemental, refraining from an overdose of mushiness etc. do have an important role to play in securing undying love."

So what happens when one partner strays? Does that mean that the love has died? "No," she answers, "That just means that the person is attracted elsewhere as perhaps the basic foundation of your relationship wasn't strong. And if it is indeed real love, then the person will return and try to make the union work."

There's hope yet for the eternal romantics. Maybe a trip to the rooftop to proclaim your love isn't such a bad idea, after all...

Building Love Relationships That Last

Are you in a relationship or thinking about getting into one? If so, then how will you know if you are building a lasting relationship, or simply going through a dance that’ll end in disaster. I’ve written this article as a sort of check list for the uninitiated in how to create and sustain a long term, passionate and totally inspiring relationship. Better, I think, to check the list, than to end up trying to repair damage. Once that is done, it’s extremely difficult.

Here’s a test. True or false.

The more kind you are to someone the more likely it is that they will stay with you in a relationship. True or False.

In a relationship, if someone is critical, nasty or verbally abusive you should approach them and tell them that it’s not ok? True or False.

The secret of romance is being generous, remembering important dates, taking a special someone to a special place. True or False.

Finally, foreplay is the key to great sex life. True or False.

How did you go with this? The answers to all the above are False.

More than 50% of marriages end in divorce. How many of those couples thought they would end in divorce when they first started? It is estimated that 80% of married couples are out of love. How could that happen when everyone you ask will give you all the advise on your relationship, free. Even the taxi driver knows.

And how many people have you met who lived happy contented lives until one day they were informed that they had cancer? The truth was that they had cancer for some time, but didn’t know it. They were unaware of the damage the cancer was causing and had it not been for a chance diagnosis triggered by some sort of discomfort, they would never have known until it was too late.

We know what it takes. Don’t we? We fall in love and go on a honeymoon. We go to Bali, Nepal, Maldives. We have a great time. We come back, we have a wonderful time, but over time, things start to change. Priorities shift, the bubble starts to empty, and then we start thinking of ways to blow the bubble back up again. Make babies and buy houses.

But what happens to love. What happens to love, the thing that drove us to rise above the drama and confusion and emotion, to bypass all the criticisms and expectations. What happens to love?

Here’s my answer. Love is cumulative. It can’t stay static. The love you feel when you first meet someone, must be the least love you feel. It’s like plutonium that leaks from a container. It deteriorates. But how do we grow love? Picking apples does not grow trees, so making love, going on holidays does not grow love. Those are the benefits of it.

To build love, to find love we must stop doing things. And stop wanting things, and stop hoping for things to be different. We must become independent of things and what we want to find love again. Daily. And as each new day dawns, we have more and more reasons to loose that stillness. So, as we re-find love everyday, we re-find that love over the top of challenges. It takes courage, it takes persistence.

At the end of the day, love is as much about hope as it is about anything. When hope exists, love flourishes. Hope of what? Hope of happiness? True or False.

The real core of human motive is the hope of happiness. True. And the true causes of human happiness are dreams. Dreams of anything, unique dreams, individual dreams, emotional dreams, happy dreams, material dreams and powerful dreams. Baby dreams and life long dreams. When we think any dream will come true, we feel happy, and when we think the person we are with will make those dreams come true, we feel in love.

Can you see the emotional link between love and dreams and happiness. Happiness for most of us is a dream come true, and therefore love for another, and dreams are linked. But what a total farce.

Real love cannot rise out of this search for happiness and quest for dreams. Real love comes from contentment, stillness and the absence of all things emotional. Real love is like the flour in the cake. A dry dusty brew of tasteless powder, which, when mixed with water (emotion) fruits (actions) heat (passion) and given a chance to rise with air (romance) becomes something.

I have written a book on love which holds as precious this “flour” Sacred Love means love that lasts. It is beyond the measure of emotion, action, passion and romance. Sacred Love is the flour, our duty is to work the ingredients to ensure the cake can be eaten.

Dreams are a key. That is why I put the vision quest for lovers in the book. Romance is a daily activity. Growing through challenge simply means turning up and love is a lifestyle acknowledges that our environment, in every way, affects our love.
